Kahurangi Pounamu Pikorua Pendant
Some commissions begin with a place.
Created for a client in Australia as a gift for someone who grew up in Whangārei, this pendant was designed to honour connection, belonging and the enduring ties that remain no matter how far life takes us.
At its centre sits a beautiful Kahurangi pounamu, chosen for its rich colour and luminous character. The stone is framed within a flowing solid gold setting inspired by the traditional pikorua form, a symbol often associated with connection, strength and the paths we share throughout life. A natural diamond adds a subtle point of light, woven naturally into the design.
Although created for a client on the other side of the Tasman, the entire commission was developed through email correspondence, demonstrating the deeply personal process that can be achieved regardless of distance.
Elegant, meaningful and highly wearable, the finished pendant carries both personal significance and a strong sense of place.
Handcrafted by Christine Price Goldsmith in Whangārei, New Zealand.
