Mum and Me
Created in memory of a much-loved mum, this ring began with a daughter wanting something that could hold the strength of the bond they shared.
The commission began with thoughts of fancy cut diamonds, but without knowing exactly what those diamonds would be. Working together from a distance, with emails, videos and photographs flying back and forth, we eventually found these two beauties.
A 1.22ct natural emerald cut diamond and a 0.52ct natural Asscher cut diamond.
I still remember opening the diamond packets and seeing them side by side for the first time. I knew right then that we had found our perfect pair.
The design grew around them. Bold and unusual, but strikingly simple. The two diamonds are different in size and character, yet beautifully balanced together, reflecting the connection at the heart of the piece.
Mum and Me was completely handcrafted in solid 9ct yellow gold, from melting and forming the metal through to the final polish.
And when she was finished, this very special ring travelled with me to Christchurch to be delivered personally to her new home.
