Some ideas arrive with a life of their own. A place. A passing moment. A quality of light. A feeling that lingers long after the moment itself has gone.
For The Art Of It begins there, with something powerful enough to be seen through more than one pair of eyes.
Each collaboration brings Christine Price together with an artist working in another medium. Both begin with the same source of inspiration, but neither is asked to arrive at the same destination. Each follows their own instincts, experience and creative language.
One response takes form in precious metal and natural gemstones. The other may emerge through paint, photography, sculpture or another medium entirely.
What results is not a copy, an illustration or a matching pair. It is two distinct interpretations, connected by the same beginning.
Every collaboration results in one singular piece of fine jewellery and one original artwork. The two are created alongside one another and are always offered for sale together. This is at the heart of the project.
Each work has its own presence and stands confidently in its own right. Held together, they offer a fuller expression of the place, moment or feeling from which they began.
Most of Christine's jewellery is created to become part of everyday life.
The works created through this project are different. They offer the freedom to explore scale, colour, movement, intricacy and technical detail more fully, allowing an idea to be followed wherever it leads.
The result is jewellery that naturally belongs to significant occasions. Like many exceptional works of fine jewellery, it may only be worn a handful of times each year.
That realisation became the beginning of another idea. If the jewellery captures a moment worth holding onto, why should that moment disappear between occasions?
The original artwork was conceived as an answer. Created from the same source of inspiration, it allows the owner to continue living with the colour, atmosphere and emotion of the work every day, even when the jewellery itself is safely stored.
Together, the two works give the inspiration two lives: one worn on the body, and one lived with in the home.
For Christine, much of the excitement lies in discovering how another artist sees the same idea.
Each collaboration becomes a conversation between different materials, perspectives, stories and ways of making. There is no fixed formula and no expectation that the resulting works should resemble one another.
Their connection may be found in colour, movement, place or emotion. Sometimes it may be felt more readily than it can be explained.
As the project grows, new artists and new mediums will bring fresh perspectives and unexpected possibilities. Each collaboration will add another chapter to an evolving body of work shaped by shared inspiration and individual creative mastery.

Painters, photographers, sculptors and artists working in other mediums are welcomed into a project where one inspiration can be followed in two entirely different directions.
