Aquamarine and Swiss Blue Topaz Toi et Moi Ring
This bespoke Toi et Moi ring began as a redesign consultation, but the final piece took an unexpected direction.
While exploring possibilities, the client was drawn to a pear-shaped aquamarine and a vibrant Swiss blue topaz. Although she had originally intended to incorporate different gemstones, these two immediately captured her attention and became the heart of the design.
Created in solid yellow gold, the ring brings the gemstones together in flowing sculptural lines that feel both natural and effortless. The soft blue of the aquamarine balances beautifully against the vivid colour of the Swiss blue topaz, creating contrast while maintaining harmony.
Traditionally, a Toi et Moi ring pairs two gemstones to represent two individuals, two stories, or two elements coming together. In this commission, the design celebrates the relationship between the gemstones themselves, each distinct in character yet perfectly suited to the other.
Designed for daily wear, the piece demonstrates how the most successful commissions often emerge through collaboration and discovery. Rather than following a predetermined plan, the design evolved naturally through the consultation process, resulting in a ring that feels contemporary, personal, and timeless.
This commission is a reminder that bespoke jewellery is not simply about creating what was first imagined. Sometimes it is about recognising something even better when it appears.
